01What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. “Local storage” is a similar browser mechanism that keeps small amounts of data on your device between visits. Both let a site remember things — like whether you're signed in, or which theme you picked. This policy explains the few we use and why, and complements our Privacy Policy.
02What we use
GetSwift keeps this deliberately minimal. We use only what's strictly necessary to run the service — no advertising, cross-site tracking, or profiling cookies.
Strictly necessary — session cookie
- A single essential cookie that keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Without it, the service can't tell that a request is coming from your logged-in account.
- It is first-party, not shared with anyone, and expires when your session ends or you sign out.
Local storage — your preferences
- Interface preferences such as your theme, accent colour, and UI options, so the app looks the way you left it.
- This data stays in your browser on your device and is not sent to us as tracking data.
03Why we don’t show a cookie banner
Under the ePrivacy Directive, consent is required for non-essential cookies and trackers — but not for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you've asked for. Since we only use an essential session cookie and store your own interface preferences locally, no consent banner is needed. If we ever introduce analytics or any non-essential technology, we'll ask for your consent first and update this policy.
04Third-party content
If you enable an optional bio integration — such as Discord presence, Last.fm, or GitHub — your browser fetches that data directly from the relevant provider, which may set its own cookies under its own policy. We don't control those. You choose whether to enable such integrations, and can remove them at any time from the bio editor.
05Managing cookies
You can view, block, or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Note that blocking the essential session cookie will stop you from being able to sign in and use your account, since it is required for the service to function.
06Changes to this policy
We'll revise the “last updated” date above if this policy changes. Continued use of GetSwift after an update means you accept the revised policy.
